After attending the Conservatoire National Superieure d'Art Dramatique (The National Dramatic Arts Conservatory) he graduated from the Jacques Lecoq International School for Physical Theatre.
This then led on to a five year engagement in 1991 with "La Jacquerie Theatre Company," a venture that included devising performances, tours, and a permanent research laboratory on humour, comedy and laughter in theatre. For Ami, it is excellent terrain in which to explore physical and visual comedy in all its aspects.
Since then, Ami performs with such diverse theatre companies as La Jacquerie, Agitex, Ama, and Drambakus. He creates solo acts for cabarets and music halls, and tours throughout France, Europe and abroad.
A well known teacher, director and coach for clown and theatre, Ami has co-directed and choreographed for many clown solos, duos and trios, both in France and the USA:
Since 1990, Ami has taught and coached drama, physical acting, physical comedy, Commedia dell'Arte, clown, buffoon, mask and dynamic improvisation.

Ami is a clown member as well as a coach in "Le Rire Médecin," France’s premiere company that places clowns in pediatric wards in hospitals.
He has taught and trained clowns in some of the world’s pre-eminent hospital clowning organisations:
As hospital clowns, we are subject to certain conditions: we play in duos, we improvise a new play in every room and we change partners frequently. Working in duos brings contrast, conflict and dynamics between the clowns, which is good material for play.
Behind the clowns are the two players. They have to be in complicity, coordination and collaboration which are all a necessary base for clown play. How do we construct clown play in these conditions? How do the players build the play together while improvising? What is each clown’s optimal place within the duo in each play?
The workshop will visit these questions and explore the elements of construction of the play while using the characters’ dynamic in the duo. A handful of tools and resources into which we can tap in order to tell the Beautiful Story of Two Wonderful Idiots.
